After building the sourdough and mixing the final dough it gets a long cool overnight ferment in the refrigerator to develop the <em>bread.-<\/em> $5\/loaf<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cinnamon Raisin &#8211;<\/strong> Made with a <em>poolish<\/em> of bread and fresh milled rye flour fermented overnight before adding bread flour and fresh milled whole wheat and rolled oats, honey, and milk, raisins and cinnamon mixed into the dough for a hearty rustic loaf. &#8211; $5\/loaf<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8230;and pastry this week&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Individual Cinnamon Rolls &#8211;<\/strong> Made with a rich sweet roll dough full of eggs, butter and sugar, spread with pastry cream, sprinkled with cinnamon\/sugar, rolled up, and sliced into individual rolls for baking. &#8211; 2\/$5.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>This week\u2019s wine tasting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Decoy Chardonnay \u201923\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0California\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0$16<\/strong><br \/>\nBlended from several CA central coast vineyards; aromas of sweet mandarin orange and white peach; juicy and vibrant palate of tropical fruit flavors with a hint of oak from its time in barrel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zenato \u2018Alanera\u2019 Rosso Veronese \u201923\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Italy\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $17<\/strong><br \/>\nDark, inky color; rich, focused nose of ripe berries, dusty oak and waxy vanilla bean. This constantly unfolding canvas of chaos seems to have cloned itself from the larger, better organized, and catastrophic disaster of Project 2025. Like many spawns of unlikely unions, it manifests unpredictably moment to moment on the whimsical turns of a sociopolitical card game where the rules constantly change with the whims of the dealer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Browsing today&#8217;s NY Times (recently resubscribed as hints of truth are reappearing) revealed some interesting surprises with somewhat hopeful threads. Where 2025 sowed confusion, conflict, cruelty, anger to mask and distract from Project 25&#8217;s purposeful destruction and looting of our 250 yr-old rules-based Constitutional government, 2026 has doubled down on brutality against immigrants, students, people of color&#8211; you know, everyone who is <em>not<\/em> a wealthy, white, Christian, male billionaire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Economics, Stocks, Bonds, and Policy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There&#8217;s been <em>a lot<\/em> going on American politics that does not fit neatly into traditional macroeconomic theory, particularly with regard to balancing investments between stocks and bonds<\/span>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Generally one<em> buys stocks<\/em> betting that their value will increase over time, and buys bonds when at least you earn a little interest even if the stock market crashes. E.g. during the &#8220;stagflation&#8221; in the Reagan years, I was able to put my meager savings into a <em>bond fund<\/em> at 17% interest<em>. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/05\/07\/business\/stocks-bonds-markets-iran-war.html\">Several business reporters<\/a> have observed over recent months that a significant number of investors regularly seem to know about planned changes in federal economic policy about a hour before the markets opens, using a tip from their pals in the Administration about a pending policy announcement, buy or sell related stocks for <em>enormous<\/em> profits on their very generous\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> donations to the Tweetster.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The economic chaos being created by the T&#8217;s war on Iran, together with Netanyahu&#8217;s relentlessly brutal extermination of Palestinians and all their supporting infrastructure in Gaza and Lebanon, has for years now showcased a<em> relentless and merciless\u00a0<\/em>genocide to mostly innocent working families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On a somewhat brighter note, during today&#8217;s reading I ran across a reference to an improbable and unlikely Republican politician named<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/barrett.house.gov\/media\/blog\">Tom Barrett<\/a>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">After looking at <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" href=\"https:\/\/barrett.house.gov\/media\/blog\">his blog<\/a><\/span> I was surprised to find everything I read to be entirely honorable, caring, and in service to his constituency and our country. If this were a multiple choice questionnaire from the Republicans, I would happily check\u00a0&#8220;more like this one!&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 ** Perhaps the first sighting of a notable departure from the old cartoon where the little girl in the kitchen with her mother looks up and asks, <em>&#8220;Mommy, is it true that Republicans have hearts of stone&#8230;?&#8221;<\/em> And the mother looks up thoughtfully and says kindly, <em>&#8220;No dear, it&#8217;s not.
